By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - The following question was submitted for consideration: "What rights have the pensionado kids when they turn 18 and have become adults? My wife daughter and I have lived in Panama for over 3 years, our daughter has attended school in Panama and is now enrolled in a culinary school on her way to becoming a "chef". In a few days she will turn 18 and an adult in Panama. When we first moved here we were wrongly informed about her rights, now having contacted 2 different lawyers it seems she basically has no rights. She cannot work in Panama, well let me re-phrase this she can if some large company is willing to sign a contract to hire her for at least 1 year under what is called the 10% law, she would then lose her pensionado status and would have to apply for a work permit every year. Very few companies if any are willing to sign such a contract. The other option is for her to marry a Panamanian, that could happen one day because she loves Panama, but certainly not now. Has Panama missed something in the new immigration law? What about the hundreds of kids under a pensionado visa when they become adults and cannot apply for work anywhere and are not ready to get married. If these kids that were brought here by their parents without having a choice to say "no" then started a new life in Panama, attended school here and are now reaching adulthood and want to pursue their life here, what are they supposed to do? Should there not have been a provision in the law for them? I'm a bit surprised no one has brought this up yet. Hey Don... any ideas? R.P. " Does anyone have any information that might help this guy? ReplyDeleteIn some cases it will be an option for her to request a change of status...or apply on an investors visa.if there is a financial capability to do that..
I have a case were this was the situation, so the family put the property they have on her name and the money on the bank to request a self solvency status..
until 25 y old she can stay as dependent if she is studying...
but to work the best option is to apply for citizenship, if she fills all the requirements..

JACK MILLER A douchebag will often bring his SLR to bars to take pictures of good looking girls (with or without their permission), perhaps pretending to be a professional photographer. He will try to be in as many photos as possible (often posing with his arms around total strangers or his friends’ girlfriends) and post them on his personal websites in an effort to convince his online community that he is a bigtime bar-star. He is also likely to boast about his "conquests" (usually exaggerated or fabricated), failing to realize that this only serves to impress fellow douchebags.
