The owners of hotels, restaurants and bars at the paradisiacal archipelago of Bocas del Toro hope that the bad moment their businesses are going through will improve this month and the next , since it is worrisome the amount of empty lodging, published daily La Prensa.
Bocas del Toro, a Caribbean paradise, hasn´t escape from the economic crisis the world is going through, especially the tourist sector in Isla Colón, where the activity, according to Juan Pablo De Caro, owner of restaurant Buena Vista, has decreased a 70%.
The daily indicates that, according to De Caro, if the last five years are compared , 2009 was the worst of all. But Janaly Espinosa, manager of hotel Swan's Cay, in Isla Colón, is more pessimistic. For her 2008 and 2009 have been the worst years for the tourism in Bocas, generating unemployment and a decrease in the quality standards of the touristic offer.
Both affirm that the situation is alarming .De Caro complained of losing money for several months and of having to do jugglings with the work schedules to do not fire workers. He said he has taken money of his own to pay the payroll, but that the situation is reaching a limit, revealed the daily.
